  • Community Engagement For The "Trip Advisor" of the Event Industry

    January 8, 2015 : Research at the Qualmann Institute indicates that while only 14% of consumers believe 'traditional advertising', 78% trust peer review. The world of social media has changed word of mouth marketing exponentially, offering reviewers on sites like Trip Advisor, Yelp and Amazon the chance to share their views with the world. Literally.

    Bringing this concept to the events industry is Eventopedia, the brainchild of event industry heavyweights Toby Heelis and Alan Newton.

    The site, launched in April 2014, offers professional meeting planners and event managers a single location to find the most suitable suppliers quickly and efficiently. 

    Like Trip Advisor, visitors to the site are able to rate and review suppliers, offering peer insight into an industry that has traditionally been built on word or mouth marketing.

    Eventopedia is first focusing on the UK market, but will quickly be online with New York City venues in early 2015.

    Visitors to Eventopedia's Community page will discover our embedded social wall, revealing industry Twitter conversation in real-time. Initially displaying Tweets that include the popular #EventProfs, any number of industry-relevant hashtags may be added at any time.
