  • The European Citizens' Trust and TweetWall Pro #eo2012

avril 24, 2012 : This morning, a debate on "Europe in Crisis: the Challenge of Winning the Citizens' Trust" took place at the European Parliament. A TweetWall gave the opportunity to outsiders to comment and ask questions to insiders.

José Manuel Barroso (President of the European Commission), Martin Schulz (President of the European Parliament) and Helle Thorning-Schmidt (Prime Minister of Denmark, President of the Council of the EU) gathered with the European Ombudsman to talk about citizens' trust.

A TweetWall was standing at the right side of the speakers and let people, inside or outside the room, ask their questions. Citizens had the opportunity to take part to the debate thanks to our tool. From multilingualism to single seat, through transparency, every topics has been covered.

It isn't the first time TweetWall Pro supports the European Institutions to get the Twitter community's reaction. In October 2010, we were at the European Council, letting Twitter in that kind of institutional debates.

As for the last time, this experience had been a success for everyone and most of all for N. Nikiforos Diamandouros, the European Ombudsman. According to him, "it was a unique event in the sense that we were able to reach out through social media beyond this room and beyond Brussels. And it is extremely important for the ombudsman to try to reach out and getting trust of the citizens".

If you missed it, here is the video.
